About

Early 2006 two leading Dutch groups, Monsieur Dubois and State Of Monc, launched a new independent platform to present and represent an upcoming scene they’re both part of: Dutch Nu-Jazz. Over the past years other groups joined this initiative, together forming the Dutch Nu-Jazz Movement as it appears today: a music collective comprising of Monsieur Dubois, State Of Monc, The Jazzinvaders and Scallymatic Orchestra. Together they share a passion for a sound that creates new formats for improvisation, beats, grooves and ensemble, a sound that looks for the intellect and wit in jazz with the state of mind of pop and dance music.

In search of new ideas within music while being inspired by the old ones, the associated bands meet each other in the Dutch Nu-Jazz Movement, sharing not only music but also their network and experience. As the whole is often bigger than the sum of its parts, this creates a far bigger potential concerning issues such as production, promotion and distribution. In addition, the Dutch Nu-Jazz Movement is a foundation directed and supported by a board that exists of professionals in the legal, commercial and communication field.

By founding The Dutch Nu Jazz Movement the bands involved like to acknowledge this growing development in jazzmusic, point out its relevance and create an organization that brings Dutch Nu Jazz to a larger public in- and outside The Netherlands. This is done by organizing events, supporting releases and promoting the Dutch Nu-Jazz bands.

Foremost the Dutch Nu-Jazz Movement is about sharing the passion for finding new ways of creating, releasing and above all enjoying music.
