Music & More organiseert samen met Beatcollective.nl op dinsdag 29 januari een concert van Naomi Davis & The Gospel Queens. Een nieuwe diva in de Daptone stal uit New York. Het label is tevens verantwoordelijk voor het succes van Sharon Jones, Lee Fields en… jawel… Amy Winehouse.
Het Beatcollective is er beretrots op dat ze haar hebben kunnen strikken. De nieuwste aanwinst van het vermaarde Daptone Label uit New York. De mannen die eerder verantwoordelijk waren voor de succes van o.a. Sharon Jones, Lee Fields & Amy Winehouse hebben weer een nieuwe troef achter de hand en ze heet Naomi (Shelton) Davis dit keer!
Zelf omschrijven ze het als Gospel & Soul van de bovenste plank maar wij vinden het pure Soul met een vleugje Funk hier en daar.

Just before the release (previously in 2008) of their first record (produced by Bosco Mann, Sharon Jones’s bass player), Naomi Shelton Davis is coming to Europe for the first time in January, for an exclusive tour with her faithfull Gospel Queens. Lead by legendary organist Cliff Driver, Naomi and the Queens, Enda, Bobby, and Cynthia, lay bare the roots of real Rhythm and Blues with a repertoire that spans from low-moaning slow rockers to frenetic funk-infused soul workouts. Op dinsdag 29 januari 2008 zullen Naomi en haar Gospel Queens Dordrecht aan doen. Om preciezer te zijn: Het Dolhuys waar Sharon Jones & The Dapkings, Lee Fields & Sugarman3 en The Poets of Rhythm haar al voorgingen. Kaarten voor dit unieke, eerste en enige Nederlandse concert zullen vanaf (ongeveer) 15 januari verkrijgbaar zijn in Dordrecht (Velvet Music) en Rotterdam (Demonfuzz). Wees er snel bij want dit concert mag je als Soul liefhebber niet missen en … het aantal plaatsen is beperkt!
