After quite a while Unique finally delivers a compilation containing in-house tracks exclusively. From late-breaking tunes like Diesler’s "Samba Magic" and Al Supersonic’s "United Nation Of Soul" to Unique classics such as Glen Anthony Henry’s "I Don’t Know" or Eli Goulart’s "Meu Samba" (Nicola Conte’s Bossa Ahead Remix) – there should be something suitable for every taste. Licks & Brains, one of the Netherlands finest bigbands, is about to release their second album already! Leading Dutch radio deejay Giel Beelen can't stop playing their tunes on Radio6. The album will be released on september 17th and will start with an early interview with conductor Rolf Delfos on Radio 6, afterwards they'll be live on Mijke's Middag followed by an one hour show in Panama. To close it off, they'll perform also at Nachtegiel/Freaknacht on Radio3 FM. Of course the album can be bought via iTunes, Amazon, Spotify etc.

Jimi Hendrix passed away 40 years ago, but his music is still relevant and an inspiration to many. Hendrix himself has always been inspired by the jazz and soul of his time. Reason enough for Scallymatic Orchestra to embark on a tribute tour at the end of the year. SO will interpret Hendrix’ music in their own way: not the regular guitarshow, but a cross-over of vintage rock with jazz, soul and ’70s grooves (aka the Scallymatic Sound). Indeed, the freedom of the grooves, the energy and ‘space’, the solid riffs and great songs are all typical ingredients for a blasting Scallymatic show, which will be supported by a VJ as well. ‘Ode to Sco’, is a tribute to probably one of the most influential and versatile jazz guitarists of the last 30 years, John Scofield. Over the years Scofield produced an enormous amount of fantastic compositions. Three leading Dutch guitarists; Martijn van Iterson, Marnix Busstra and Peter Tiehuis, who need no introduction, have joined together to pay respect to some of those incredible compositions. This trio will be accompanied by an extraordinaire rhythm section, Ton Dijkman on the drums and Norbert Sollewijn Gelpke on the bass. JAZZKOMM @ POPKOMM is a platform for professional auditions and various forms of showcases, concerts, musical experimentation and jam sessions. With Popkomm, the a2n conference and the Berlin Festival, part of the Berlin Music Week, close by and taking place at the same time, the aim is for jazz artists and jazz entrepreneurs to engage in a lively exchange with all music industry players. JAZZKOMM has put together an exciting conference programme, comprising lectures, discussions, seminars, workshops and a Jazz Pecha Kucha. The Jazzinvaders & State of Monc - both members of The Dutch Nu-Jazz Movement - will be present at Jazzkomm and do showcases at The Frannz Club September 9th. Socialbeats, together with Unique Records, are gearing up to release their seventh 7” record in the Best of Seven Series. This latest installment features two artists showcasing their funkiest tunes from their most recent albums. On the A side is Diesler with "South Side Morning" featuring Stee Downes.
